FOREWORD
We focus
on teaching stress management techniques which have been
helping employees to handle everyday situations in a more constructive
manner.
In this
training, the goal of stress management is to bring your nervous
system back into balance, giving you a sense of calmness and control in your
life. Controlling your life means balancing various aspects of it - work,
relationships and leisure - as well as the physical, intellectual and
emotional parts. People who effectively manage stress consider life a
challenge rather than a series of irritations, and they feel they have
control over their lives, even in the face of setbacks.
Stress can
be defined as a condition or feeling experienced when a person perceives that
“demands exceed the personal and social resources the individual is able to
mobilize.” Stress is a normal physical reaction that occurs when you feel
threatened or overwhelmed. Hence managing stress is very important. It is
critical to understand that the perception of a threat is as stressful as a
real threat. With increasing demands of home and work life, many people are
under enormous stress.
Stress in
the workplace is an increasingly important issue. It is
costly to both individuals and organizations. Managing stress in the
workplace is a very important component of productivity. Stress is the point of imbalance when the tension being
sustained feels too great. The stress response narrows your ability to think
clearly and function effectively. It can disable you physically and
emotionally. Hence it is very important to constantly use stress
management tips to help in managing stress.
Through
our Stress Management Program, participants have been able to gain a
better understanding of themselves and their response to stressful
situations. This has enabled them to effectively function in all areas of
